I have looked on the internet for infromation regarding if there will be a new series or not and it seems to me as there is no definative anwser are we gonna have to wait till the new site is up or not to find out. Also i would love it if they had some robotech voices in a chatroom. Like sort of chat nights and they could organise big stars like tony oliver to come. i have always wanted to meet him i guess this would be the closest i would ever get to talking to the legendery voice.

Yes there will be a new series, but there is no info on it on the web. Harmony Gold is trying to be even more top secret than before.

There was talk about a new Series called "Robotech 3000" and it was to be animated by NetterDigital Studios (Who filed bankrupcy last December.(2000)) So there is NO telling what has happened to it or who has picked it up.
It was to be all Computer Animation though. HelixDaKat |

Robotech 3000 is dead. Its been dead for quite some time now due to poor fan reaction at a few of the cons it premiered at. Harmony Gold is working a new Robotech series that will utilize some of the original Japanese animators.
As for what the new series will be about, that'll be up to Carl Macek and his production staff. eveversion4 |

Just so you know, ROBOTECH 3000 wouldn't have been that good. I have a few screen shots, and they weren't all that great. And robotech 3000, as far as I know, keyword 'know', will take place almost a thousand years in the future, long after the RDF, and the Invid and the first robotech wars. Tech is all different, enemies and good guys all different. Almost no continuity, and It's made by the same peeps that made Voltron 3d :P It wouldn't have been that good, whether it came out or not. If it -does- come out though, I'll have to watch it before I actually support my opinion

The CG version WOULD have sucked, but thankfully they decided to go with traditional cel animation from Tatsunoko Studios *the original people*.

Actually... there was no set date given for R3K, only that it was in the "Far flung future." Most people just assumed that it was circa 3000 AD.
As for whether it would've sucked or not... The overall plot sounded at least interesting, but HGUSA farked it up by removing the Transformable Mecha (*cough* Duh *cough*). The series *would* have focused around Protoculture, and probably the Invid, providing that Macek's comments on the project were correct (That it would involve the ultimate evolution of the FoL). I'm still not sold on Cell animation... it's all going to depend on the budget given to the animation studio (Is it confirmed that Tatsunoko will be animating it? I thought they were just "helping"...). If it's a small budget, then we get a poorly animated series that uses recycled footage extensively; larger budget... who knows... we might get a DYRL of a series. ^_^ 'Course, I'm wondering who's doing the Character designs... (and the mecha designs for that matter)... Paploo (Insert intelligent thought here ______) God is Dead; Man is Left

Quote: Excellent point there Pap, some people seem to think that by simply being animated using traditional cel animation is going to automatically make this new series good. Every thing is all dependent on money, the more money you throw at a given project the better its going to be (usually). I've always maintained that CG can be done just as well as cel animation, provided that enought time and money is given to do it right. The biggest factor in animation be it CG or cel is time, the more time spent on it the better its going to look. Of course as with most things time is money, so in order to get enough time to do things right you need money; the more the better. Listen, strange women lying in ponds is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power comes from a mandate from the masses! Not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

CG is ok, but it still would be superior to use the anime style for Robotech in any form. The fans can relate to the visuals best ,because of the way the "anime look" brings universal appeal. The blending of anime style and the high
tech designs just looks better. Hopefully the writers of a new story will match the anime staff's work.. And of course quality is very important in all aspects of the making of any new production.. "Bang......." Spike Spiegel

I dunno, maybe I'm just a Mckinneyist (which I am, by far, you can take me up on that if you want) but I think that either way it would have stunk. They made an american link to ROBOTECH that took place in 3000 (I think that was it... oh well, was further in the future...) maybe you watched it, was called the exo-squad. Wasn't half-bad, and was considered one of the best american anime style cartoons of it's time. (early 90's)
Think about it though, if they had a series that takes place 1000 years ahead of RT.... it wouldn't -really- be rt, since there is little relation to the original series. Robotech is based on continuity, as far as the series itself goes. There would be little actual rt in it, the original characters may be legend or something like that, but nothing major. Invid would probably be long gone, let alone the zentraedi and the RDF. Earth is probably either back to normal or obliterated, either way. And if you want the screens, go to: or Ok bye :P |

Robotech.com now has pics in their gallery section of the RT3K characters Suzy Kramer and Brent Hawkins. That's interesting that they're under the RT3K section. I thought those designs were for the new series.
"What can I do for you today, Brent?" "Oh, just a regular haircut." "Do you want me to cut these off?" "No, I'm Brent Hawkins." Legioss

Looks like it has potential. I hope HG learned enough from their Sentenial's attempt to see this thru.

Those pictures are from Robotech 3000 which was not completed. The new series is going to be something else. It's kind of a shame that Suzy will go to waste. Maybe she'll appear again sometime.

But weren't they poping up after the project was scrubbed? I remember hearing about it being cancelled, then seeing them when you registered at robotech.com in its early stages. Forgive me if I'm mistaken.

That's what happened. Then when Steve Yun put the pictures up this morning in the Robotech 3000 section of the gallery, he said they were from Robotech 3000.

IIRC, when RT.com's first "promo" site came up, the character designs were *confirmed* as to be working designs from the current series (The Non R3K series). I'm not sure who said it, or where it was said, but I definately remember that coming up in the RTMB's converstations over the things.
I don't think that they were necessarily R3K designs (it doesn't match Netter's style), but nor do I think they're fully japanese designs (Seems more like American work imitating the Manga Style to me). Who knows? Maybe HGUSA is playing Bob Skir in their tactics, and purposly misleading fans...? (Although, I hope not...) BTW -- weren't there supposed to be some *NEW* RT pictures, pictures from the new project, displayed on RT.com yesterday? I wonder what happened? Paploo "Woooaahh! A little more to the left and this boy would've been Spam in a can!"
