That is an excellent question. The best I can give you is early 2001, since as experience has shown, Robotech.com probably won't meet its January target. I guess it's all in the timing. They're probably working hard to make sure that everything will be ready at once, so we won't have to ask 'Why isn't this part up yet?' It's frustrating I know, but I think it'll be a killer site once up and running. Maybe it'll even have a link to this board, since this is the closest thing they have so far that's semi-official.

I forget now, what do we actually get from the site, when it's up?

Harmony Gold is in a state of wanting to tell people stuff but not wanting. Everytime they give out even some info, whatever they do never turns out right. So, like the site, they are likely taking even more time to make sure it is right and will work. Like the new Robotech series, they are giving out even less info than they did with Robotech 3000.
The site will have: -a Full Encyclopedia of Robotech, from mecha to characters to episodes. -A Download section of art work, images, and hopefully unreleased Robotech related stuff. -Robotech's own Online Store -Get the latest news on Robotech from Harmony Gold themselves -Chat and Message boards with hopefully a question box for Carl Macek -hopefully other stuff - The Masters

It should be noted that the robotech.com that launches will not be the final word on the site.
For example, the mecha section will not be complete from the start, for example - the major mecha & aircraft & ships will all be detailed, but the minor ones will be incompletely represented, and will trickle in as time goes on. So far, none of the hand weapons, armor, uniforms, and the like have been done, and these will have to appear later. |

I also want to add that the Alpha-testing version of the site is, from a pure aesthetic point of view, positively gorgeous - the graphics and style are simply wonderful, and will probably leave us at the RRG more than a little ashamed - and envious. On the other hand, our web designer works for free... :^)
I hate to usurp Steve's purview by rambling on about his site here, but I do want to assure fans that it's almost done. Double-checking of content is underway, as well as an overall testing of the site for broken links and the like. The reason for the slipping launch dates is the enormous amount of work all parties have put into this thing before launching, and the sheer scope of the site. Instead of starting small and growing, it's clear that the decision was made to have a finished product that could stand on its own, whatever else might be added to it in the future. The initial launch will be a very formidable resource. That being said, the new slogan we hear from HG seems to be "The Best is yet to Come!". The same can be said of the site - there are numerous features that have been discussed that won't be implemented at launch, but will debut later, making what's already shaping out to be a tremendous site even better. If I sound psyched by what I've seen, it's because I am. For those of you who have been so patient, I can assure you that it will have been worth it, and that the wait is almost over. |

Well, sounds like it'll be worth the wait. There is nothing more frustrating than a half-ass site with half the links broken. Better to have the site thoroughly tested and operational before opening it to the public.

> > "Bang......." Spike Spiegel The beta test site is up and running, though incomplete. You can see what the real thing is going to be like at beta.robotech.com . Without an invitation (which you apparently did not receive), you will not be able to access the members only items though. PJL Thomassen |
