It pretty much came out of nowhere; he had the aortic artery between the kidney feeders and the point where it splits to go into the legs rupture from an
aneurism (that had probably been developing for years from his blood pressure). It had apparently started leaking earlier in the day, and didn't fully
rupture until he was at the hospital, while they were doing a sonogram to find out what was bothering him. They operated on him, and the surgery appeared
successful, but they had to use so much donor blood that they had to get into the frozen units, and the blood was still well below normal body temperature when
they had to transfuse it, and it put him into a hypothermic shock he wasn't able to survive.
I'll probably still be quiet around here for the next couple weeks as we get his affairs straightened out.
