It's pretty much a given that at this point in time, Tommy Yune is the sole mecha designer for the entire Robotech franchise. He said so as he designed the
'Silverback', which Protoculture pointed out looked like some kind of gorilla thing.

I'm not saying Tommy's a bad designer, but what do you think should be done with these 'filler' mecha? Should Robotech continue to design new
mecha such as the Silverback, or should it (as usual) go back to the old...

I think Tommy should go use them as suppositories starting with the animation mistake and working his way up to the gorilla. HG lacks the ability to add
legitimacy to Robotech. They could have added legitimacy to Robotech if they had any skill in making a story. The best things that HG can do are

1) make their own original movie unrelated to Robotech and
2) properly exploit the rights they have for Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada

and I agree with the others they better make something new if they want to keep interest. It's really not that impressive that they can dig up some mutant
design and have Toynami make one.

I'd much rather see them get away from unused OSM designs and take RT mecha design in its own direction, especially when it comes to transitional units.
There just is not likely to be many unused OSM designs that can create bridges between the sagas.

I feel that a transitional stage is necessary. Carry over most of the SC/NG mecha, but start introducing new ones, be they Yune designs or otherwise. The tech
side of Robotech has always been evolving and upgrading. New mecha are introduced all the time, usually within an appropriate service life of the previous
mecha. Kinda gotta get new stuff in there, but that tie to the familiar helps add legitimacy to what is to come next.
