Robotech Audio Comics/Stories?

Here's an idea that I posted in the Robotech.com forum:
What do you all think about that idea? Would it be worthwhile to create audio comics for the fans? Would people like them and buy them?

Lots of people have iPods or other MP3 players, and MP3s are easy enough to download, whether from Robotech.com, iTunes, or wherever. Suppose they were made as
a supplement to the regular comics? Or suppose they were done as audio books? Or like radio-plays?

I always liked the distinctive sound of Robotech, like they the way the background music accompanied the scenes.

Invid War / Aftermath Discusion

Well today was a most successful expedition. Hit up a forgotten local comic shop and walked out with half of the Invid War Comic series and the VF-1R super
pack high articulation figure to boot!

I'm reading through IW and I am as very impressed! It's some excellent writing, and good to see some familiar faces. Seeing the layers of Jonathan
Wolffe and Carpenter is great, and the original character like Cade are very compelling as well, though the all black-and-white art style does make
distinguishing characters difficult at times.

I also read on one of the wiki type sites that there was a follow up series called Aftermath, and while they had a few issues there, I didn't pick them up.
Is AM as good as IW? If so, I plan to make a return trip soon.

They also had issues of Clone and Mordecai, but everything I have heard makes me want to keep clear of them...

Any thoughts or comments to share?

Antarctic Press Comics - WTH...

So having the day off from work today, I went on a bit of a scavenger hunt to track down several very distant comic book stores in an effort to get some back
issues of current stuff (Runaways, Doctor Who, and others), as well as spelunk into the bins for Robotech Comics while I was at it. I partly succeded in
grabbing some of what I came for. Go the Amano cover for issue 1 of Invasion, and some of the other stuff I came for.

I did find one oddity, an Antarctic Press issue of Robotech. NO. 10 Specifically. NO details on the cover or anything, but I was curious so I nabbed it. What
in the protoculture am I reading here? Admiral Fokker, Captain Claudia Fokker, Lisa Riber, and Khyron commanding a fleet of Dolza-like cruisers. It read like
bizarre fan fiction of an alternate reality, but my interest is piqued. It wasn't bad per-se, just jarring to see this when I expected "normal"
Robotech.

Anyone know what I've walked into here?

Ok,

after some thought, it occured to me that the Clone comic series could potentially be revamped and updated so as to be a little more palatable.
Removing the obvious Macross influences would be a step in the right direction. Figure the series is set in the mid-2050's and the colonists come
from Earth, Mars and Jupiter perhaps wanting to start anew somewhere away from the Earth. The interesting thing is that it doesn't have to solely be about
military characters but could be stories based on a broad range of themes: exploration, societal/libertarian freedoms vs security, old grudges (perhaps the
military complement are from the deep space colonies and dont really like the Earthers) etc. Of course, it would need to be handled with care so as to not
treat the reader like a 4-year old or slack-jawed moron.

The Mordecai (or whatever it will be called) itself would be revisualized to be an Ark Angel-class Colony Ship...

Well, saw the panel yesterday - nothing new at all really. But what I still amazes me is the spin that's still going on after all of these years. Maybe
it shouldn't amaze me, I don't know.
Basically, Shadow Rising is still in limbo. Or at least that's what I got from the all of the vague answers. Honestly, I've been reading so much

Well, the latest Tommy interview seems to imply Funimation is NOT involved with funding for Shadow Rising. We all kind of knew that, but now its confirmed,
I guess. It's too bad, too, because I was kind of hoping an experienced company like Funimation would be able to take the reigns the project and something

Hmm, I dunno how much this has been discussed before here, but I wanted to ask about the use of 3D cel-shading for making Robotech/anime stuff.

I know a lot of people dislike cel-shading, but I think the level of acceptance would depend upon how skillfully it's done. As with any artwork, some people do it better than others.

3D cel-shaded stuff tends to stick out due to the perfectly rigid way it moves geometry. I was thinking that one of the better ways to use it, is to render it at as low a framerate as possible.

Also, I think that shadows and highlights should be rendered separately, so that some kind of stylized distortions can be applied to them.

I'm looking into 3D-Rendering-to-Flash, because I think it's possible to apply those distortions to the resulting vector-rendered objects more effectively.

I just wanted to hear some comments from people, as to what they think. Would anyone care to talk shop?

I could rationalise this into a whole thesis or more, but it's just an idea for how to make Robotech work.

I've been reading some new, post-2000 comic books of G.I. Joe tonight, and have been amazed by how much I remember. Basically, it's part of my history, my childhood, something that forged my understandings of right and wrong, something that gave me, in some way, feelings toward how the world works. The comic books are wonderful; they have enjoyable characters, great scenes, and par-for-the-course dialogue.

The stories aren't exactly brilliant, but when it comes to something like the Joes and Cobras to me, I (apparently) could care less. I'm not saying that Robotech is the same as G.I. Joe, but couldn't Robotech be written in the same way?

A lot of people might say that "G.I. Joe was a pretty mindless show compared to Robotech" and they might be right, but any good G.I. Joe fan knows that the great comic book incarnations are far more realistic,...
